Republican Congressman Joe Walsh claims Blacks are Dependent on government

From [HERE] Illinois Republican Congressman, Joe Walsh, made some controversial comments claiming that Democrats want Hispanics to be dependent on the government and that African Americans already are dependent on the government.

"The Democratic Party promises groups of people everything," Walsh said during a speech in Schaumburg that was caught on video by CREDO SuperPAC, an anti-Tea Party group. "They want the Hispanic vote, they want Hispanics to be dependent on government, just like they got African Americans dependent on government. That's their game."

Walsh added that civil rights activist the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. "would be out of work if [African Americans] weren't dependent on government."

It's discouraging to see a politician exploit race and ethnicity to try and win votes. He is merely exploiting stereotypes.

Walsh is running against Iraq war hero Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat, who he also once mocked by making light of her war injuries. Both candidates debated for the first time earlier this month.

In the 8th District more than 22 percent of the voting-age population is Hispanic and 4 percent is African American.

Walsh thinks he can win by alienating all Democrats, Hispanics and African Americans.

That doesn't  add up to a winning strategy.
