After nearly 20 years with WDIV-TV Local 4, the station announced last Friday that veteran anchor and reporter Emery King's contract will not be renewed. Although his contract doesn't expire until the end of the month, station officials removed King from its Web site and took him off the air. "The decision was reached following negotiation talks with Mr. King and his representative," says Neil Goldstein, the station's vice president of news. "No replacement has been named for the 5:30 p.m. anchor position." The broadcast journalist's title at Local 4 was anchor and chief political correspondent.[more]
