Michigan women's groups support affirmative action

Leaders of 11 Michigan women's organizations joined forces Tuesday to support affirmative action. The women said they were opposed to an initiative that would eliminate racial preferences at Michigan's public universities and agencies. The proposed constitutional amendment, backed by a group called the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, now targets the 2006 election cycle. [more]
