BUSH and AIDS: Talk Is Cheap
/President Bush reiterated his commitment to fighting AIDS yesterday, but once again the president was long on rhetoric and short on action. Rather than responding forcefully to what he called " a great tragedy ," Bush gave no sign he would depart from a " go it alone approach " that has led him to underfund his own initiative, cut support to international aid groups fighting the disease, rely heavily on unproven abstinence-training, and obstruct access to the cheapest AIDS medication.
