Black farmers object to bank merger -Wachovia Bad for Blacks

The National Black Farmers Association filed a complaint yesterday with the Federal Reserve Bank, objecting to the proposed merger of Wachovia Corp. and SouthTrust Corp. "Wachovia has done a poor job of lending dollars to African-American farmers," said John Boyd Jr., president of the Virginia-based organization. He said the association has 80,000 members nationwide.
