Republican Convention confusion

The informal deadline for the dozens of anti-Republican, anti-war, anti-Bush protesters to apply for permits to demonstrate during the party's convention came and went Tuesday without anyone getting closer to knowing what routes, streets and parks will or won't be sanctioned by the city. Leslie Cagan, head of United for Peace and Justice, the anti-war group organizing a march of an estimated 250,000 people, the largest of the demonstrations, said she is worried that the institutional lethargy is a deliberate ploy by the city to prolong the process.
