Black Man Detained Pretrial for Seven Years, & Innocent: Sues Arresting Cops for Forced Confession during 2 Day Interrogation

Was Held on $5 Million Bond. Found Not Guilty in 2013. From [HERE] A Black man spent seven years in jail before he was acquitted at trial, after police coerced him into falsely confessing to killing his 1-month-old niece, the man claims in court.

Barry J. Burrell sued Sauk Village and its police Officers Tim Holevis and R. Grossman, on Aug. 19 in Cook County Court. Burrell's month-old niece Kalia was found dead in August 2006, suffering a fractured skill and ribs and a lacerated liver, the Chicago Tribune reported at the time.

Burrell says in his lawsuit that he "was not involved in Kalia's death." "No witnesses or other family members told the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) or the defendants that Barry was involved in Kalia's death.

At anytime you can be killed in the name of racism/white supremacy: Video Shows White Texas Cops Terrorizing Black Family after Traffic Stop

From [HERE] White cops in Forney, Texas, were looking for a man reportedly driving with a gun out his window when they pulled over Kametra Barbour driving with four young kids earlier this month. A call reported four black men waving a gun out of a beige or tan Toyota. Barbour was also black, but that appears to be the only thing she had in common with the reported suspects. She was driving a burgundy red Nissan Maxima, she told the local ABC affiliate WFAA. And the four children she was driving home that night were younger than ten years old.

The officers realized within about a minute they had pulled over the wrong vehicle and de-escalated, when Barbour’s six-year-old son Ryan walked out of the car with his hands up, in a chilling image captured by dash cam video that evokes the “Hands up, don’t shoot” refrain that emerged after Michael Brown’s death.

Acrobatic Movements or Racism?: Autopsy Contradicts Louisiana Police Incredible Claim that Black Man Shot himself with his hands cuffed behind him

From [HERE] and [MORE] An autopsy report released this week cast further doubt on a police officer’s claim that a suspect committed suicide by shooting himself while handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser, reports KATC.

According to the first page of the official autopsy report released by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office, Victor White III, 22, died from a gunshot to the chest, not in his back as reported by the arresting officer.

According to initial information offered by Trooper Stephen Hammons to the press back in March, Victor III was stopped under the suspicion that he was involved in a fight at a convenience store near his home. Hammons claimed the unnamed deputy involved searched White III, found unidentified narcotics on his person, and arrested him. When they arrived at Iberia Parish Sherrif's Office, they said Victor III refused to exit the cruiser and became "uncooperative." According to police, he was handcuffed, with his hands behind his back, in the back seat of a police cruiser.  According to the police report, the arresting officer went to get help and when he returned he found White critically wounded from a gunshot wound to his back. [MORE]

Police claim that White had somehow hidden a gun in the backseat of the cruiser and committed suicide by shooting himself. White died shortly after, with police stating there were no surveillance cameras in that area of the parking lot where the car was parked.

Questions were immediately raised as to how White could have smuggled a gun into the cruiser and then managed to shoot himself in the back when left alone. “My son didn’t shoot himself. I never believed it. I won’t believe it,” said Victor White, Sr., the father Victor White. “I know they beat him before he arrived at the station,” he said, “because those who were with him before he was arrested said he didn’t have a mark on him.”

Despite initial statements made by authorities that said Victor III was shot in the back, the report describes no back wounds at all. Instead, his cause of death is described as a gunshot to his right chest that perforated his left lung and heart, exited through his left armpit, and lacerated his upper arm. It was reported in initial local accounts of the shooting that Victor III was handcuffed behind his back. So in order for him to have shot himself in the chest, he would have had to pull himself through his cuffed arms in the backseat of that cop car—and of course, have a gun in the first place.

The report still lists his death as a suicide. The autopsy further reveals that White suffered from some sort of blow to the face, listed on the report as two upper facial abrasions near his left eye.

Admitting that the case is still being investigated, State Police Master Trooper Brooks David said that state troopers originally did believe the gunshot entry wound was in White’s back.

No explanation was given for how White could have shot himself in the chest with his hands cuffed behind him.

The report indicates Victor White III was shot in his right chest in the front, and on the side, with a trajectory "slightly" front to back. Chris DeLay from UL's Criminal Justice Department also saw the report, and while he's not ruling a suicide out, he said it would be hard.

"If that is in fact what happened, it would take a lot of acrobatic movements to accomplish," says DeLay.

Obama orders review of police use of military hardware following Ferguson Protests

From [HERE] US president Barack Obama has ordered an investigation into whether it is "appropriate" for the military to sell battle-grade hardware to local police, a senior US official says. The order follows widespread criticism of local authorities' use of military gear in Ferguson, Missouri after the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown by a white police officer.

Images of police wielding military-style guns and armour during clashes with protesters have shocked many American lawmakers and civil rights groups.

The official said Mr Obama "has directed a review of federal programs and funding that enable state and local law enforcement to purchase military equipment". The review will consider "whether these programs are appropriate", whether training with the equipment is sufficient, and whether there is enough federal oversight of the gear's use.

Ask yourself, would Black folks rally around and raise $ for a black cop who killed an unarmed white teenager?

Racism is the collective behaviors of white people, it is systematic power. What is white collective power? Collective power is the institutions and systems that benefit one group at the expense of another group, and allow one group to dominate another group in all areas of human activity. For example, when a white policeman shoots an unarmed black man, his fellow officers, the police chief, internal affairs, the union, the media, the prosecutor, thejudge, and the jury will support, defend, and finance that white police officer’s “right” to shoot (murder) an unarmed black person. From [HERE] An online fund-raising drive for Darren Wilson (cop in photo), a white Mo., police officer who shot an unarmed Black teenager to death on Aug. 9 surpassed $300,000 by Saturday afternoon, as dozens of people gathered at a St. Louis pub to rally on the lawman’s behalf.

One fund-raising web page raised so much money in so few days that it was shut down and a second page was opened, with its donations being directed to a fund managed by the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge. In all, the two pages, which both are on the crowdfunding website gofundme, have raised more than $300,000 for the officer, Darren Wilson.

“The individual who started the fund didn’t realize it would get so big,” said a woman who organized Saturday’s rally. When pressed for her name, she said only, “I am Darren Wilson,” a play on the popular mantra that followed the shooting death in Florida of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager.

The woman said donations were pouring in from around the nation from people of different races, most of whom were afraid to show their faces or publicly give their names. The site had to remove nasty comments being posted by people angry at Officer Wilson and by people criticizing the 18-year-old he shot, Michael Brown.

A related Facebook page for Officer Wilson had nearly 60,000 “likes.” The rally organizer said the page was being monitored for vitriol.

“We are working around the clock to clear the hate,” she said. [MORE]

The Military Differential is for You my brother: Miami PD Acquires Assault Rifles, Military Choppers, Mine Resistant Tanks, Grenade Launchers

The Military Differential in Service of White Domination. 'White people are 10% of the world's population. Their continued dominance rests on maintaining their superior military force. In fact our being here today in the U.S. is the result of military differences. Racists have no plans to equalize this differential with non-whites here or abroad.' Amos Wilson in video below.

From [HERE] The images out of Ferguson, Missouri were alarming as officers resembling soldiers were going head-to-head with protesters. CBS4 has learned the military gear being used by police in Ferguson is being used by police in South Florida. Police officers in South Florida have the same military gear, military issued weapons, and drive similar retired military grade vehicles. Miami is 88% non-white, 12% white. [MORE]

CBS4’s investigative unit is still pouring over the volumes of paper detailing military surplus that’s been handed over to law enforcement agencies across Florida for free.

The government’s “1033 Program” moves military surplus from the battlefield to our neighborhood. Broward County has 4 utility trucks.  Monroe County has 34 assault rifles, a cargo plane, and a helicopter through the program.  Miami-Dade has acquired far more gear than both counties combined.

The list is quite lengthy and added up to nearly $4.5 million in military freebies acquired over the last 8 years.  CBS4 found 250 assault rifles from the Vietnam era, two military grade helicopters, and four mine resistant ambush protection vehicles worth $2.7 million.  Also of interest were five M79 grenade launchers. Ferguson Race Soldier - "I'm also a killer. I've killed a lot, and if I need to I'll kill a whole bunch more. If you don't want to get killed, don't show up in front of me."

From [HERE] In the latest embarrassment for local law enforcement, a white officer from the St. Louis County Police Department was removed from active duty on Friday after a video surfaced in which he boasted of being "a killer." The cop, Dan Page, a 35-year-veteran of the police force and a U.S. military veteran, was relieved of patrol duties and placed in an administrative position pending an internal investigation, a police department spokesman said.

In the video, Page is seen addressing a St. Louis chapter of the Oath Keepers, a conservative group of former servicemen, saying, "I'm also a killer. I've killed a lot, and if I need to I'll kill a whole bunch more. If you don't want to get killed, don't show up in front of me."[MORE]

The Psychopathic Racial Personality. "This presentation is based upon the following very simple premise: in their relationship with the Black race, Europeans (Whites) are psychopaths and their behavior reflects an underlying biologically transmitted proclivity with roots deep in their evolutionary history. The psychopath is an individual who is constantly in conflict with other persons or groups. He is unable to experience guilt, is completely selfish and callous, and has a total disregard for the rights of others. This premise is supported by overwhelming scientific evidence (Delany, 1968; Du Bois, 1896; Fanon, 1963; Garvey, 1967; Welsing, 1991; Williams, 1971).

There is a scientific dictum which states, ”everything that exists, exists in some amount and if it exists, it can be measured.” One of the best methods that can be used to measure the psychopathic traits of the White race is observing and analyzing their universal overt behaviors and attitudes toward Blacks. However, in so doing, since Blacks have been enslaved and colonized by Whites, a very subtle psychological problem is posed of which every Black should be aware-intellectual insight about Whites does not insure that there will be a corresponding change in Blacks’ behavior and attitude toward Whites, particularly when there is a threat involved.

For example, everywhere one finds Whites and Blacks in close proximity to each other, whether it is Chicago or Zimbabwe, the Whites are in control. Yet Blacks rarely question this extraordinary universal phenomenon which defies every knowm statistical law of probability. In fact, Blacks denounce those who simply raise this question with admonitions such as "we should not be racists and treat them as they have treated us.” In fact, Whites are not going to allow Blacks to treat them as they have treated Blacks, so that requires no discussion. Nobody Knows How Many Non-white Americans the Police Kill Each Year

White supremacy is war against Black people in general and against Black males in particular, as embodied in such tactics and strategies as justifiabie homicide. It will require a total commitment and counter war effort on the part of all Black peoples to neutralize, by every means at their disposal, this war of racist injustice. [MORE]

From [HERE] Earlier this month, a police officer shot and killed an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri. The shooting and the response have reignited concerns about racial profiling, police brutality and police militarization. The incident has also drawn attention to a remarkable lack of knowledge about a seemingly basic fact: how often people are killed by the police.

Some reporting has put forward one of the only figures available: the approximately 400 “justifiable police homicides” each year since 2008, according to the FBI’s annual Supplementary Homicide Report (SHR). That data point has appeared with heavy caveats in a string of media reports, including in USA Today, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Washington Post.

The statistic might seem solid at first glance. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Bureau of Justice Statistics — independently of the FBI — also estimate the number of police homicides per year at around 400.

But these estimates can be wrong. Efforts to keep track of “justifiable police homicides” are beset by systemic problems. “Nobody that knows anything about the SHR puts credence in the numbers that they call ‘justifiable homicides,’” when used as a proxy for police killings, said David Klinger, an associate professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Missouri who specializes in policing and the use of deadly force. And there’s no governmental effort at all to record the number of unjustifiable homicides by police. If Brown’s homicide is found to be unjustifiable, it won’t show up in these statistics.

Video Shows St. Louis Police Lied about Deliberate Death of Kajieme Powell [White People Dominate Us with Deceit and/or Violence ]

From [HEREThe St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department released cell phone footage Wednesday of the police shooting of Kajieme Powell, a 25-year-old black man killed on Tuesday in St. Louis, according to St. Louis Public Radio. A convenience store owner called 911 on Tuesday when he suspected Powell stole drinks and donuts from his shop, according to a recording of the call. Another woman called to report Powell was acting erratically and had a knife in his pocket.

Two white officers in a police SUV responded to the calls, the cell phone video shows. When the officers got out of their vehicle, Powell walked in their direction, yelling and telling them to shoot him already.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson, a racist suspect, said Tuesday that both of the officers opened fire on Powell when he came within a three or four feet of them holding a knife "in an overhand grip."

But the newly released cell phone footage undermines the statement, showing Powell approaching the cops, but not coming as close as was reported, with his hands at his side. The officers began shooting within 15 seconds of their arrival, hitting Powell with a barrage of bullets.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department released the video and 911 calls, telling St. Louis Public Radio that it plans to act transparently.

The shooting death occurred less than four miles from where Michael Brown was fatally shot by a police officer in the suburb of Ferguson on Aug. 9.

Police cameras are important, but they’re useless when used by racist cops [white supremacy/racism is the problem not cameras]

WashingtonPost

There’s no question that, had the Ferguson, Mo., Police Department mandated that its officers wear body cameras, use dashboard cameras or both, there would be far fewer mysteries about the events leading up to the shooting of Michael Brown. The department apparently had these cameras; it just hadn’t gotten around to using them.

But simply mandating that the cameras be used isn’t enough, as City Lab reports from San Diego:

Here in San Diego, our scandal-plagued police department has begun outfitting some officers with body cameras, and the City Council has approved a plan to roll out hundreds more.

Officers wearing the cameras were present during at least two shootings earlier this year. Yet we’re still not any closer to knowing what happened in those chaotic moments — whether the perpetrators can be easily identified, what kind of interactions the officers had with those present, nothing.

That’s because the department claims the footage, which is captured by devices financed by city taxpayers and worn by officers on the public payroll, aren’t public records. Our newsroom’s request for footage from the shootings under the California Public Records Act was denied.

Once footage becomes part of an investigation, the department says it doesn’t have to release them. SDPD also said during the pilot phase of the camera program that it doesn’t even have to release footage from the cameras after an investigation wraps.

I called the department Friday to see whether it’s updated any policies surrounding the cameras now that more are being doled out and the program is kicking into full swing.

“We have had very positive feedback from the officers who are using them in the field” but “there are no policy changes to the releasing of evidence from body cameras,” SDPD spokesman Kevin Mayer tells me in an email.

This is absurd. The police work for the public. The cameras were purchased with public funds. Government employees are answerable to the public, especially those who have the power to detail, arrest and kill. A police department that refuses to release dash-camera or lapel-camera footage to the public after a controversial incident is basically saying just trust us. But if the optimal goal is for the public to unquestioningly trust the police, there’s no reason to outfit cops with cameras in the first place. (It will be interesting to see if SDPD adopts the same policy when a video clearly exonerates a police officer of false allegations.)

But even when the video is considered public record — or at least is at least released to a criminal defense and attorneys filing civil rights claims during discovery — there is another problem. There have been too many examples in which an officer has “forgotten” to turn on a camera, a camera has coincidentally malfunctioned at a critical tim, or video has gone missing. I wrote about this problem in March.

LAPD Refuses to Release Ezell Ford's Autopsy

From [HERE] The Los Angeles Police Department has employed an "investigative hold" to postpone the release of Ezell Ford's autopsy. Ford was a 25-year-old African-American man who was shot and killed by police in South Central Los Angeles just days after 18-year-old Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Missouri.

According to the LAPD, investigative holds are a common move to prevent tampering with the testimony of witnesses, who may be swayed by the information they read, KPCC reported.

But members of Ford's Los Angeles community have interpreted the hold as a move by the LAPD to "cover their tracks," Jubilee Shine told KPCC. Ford was unarmed, lying on the ground and complying with police commands when he was shot in the back, says Ford's mother Tritobia Ford, KTLA reported. A witness has said that she saw Ford handcuffed, lying on his stomach on the ground, and shot dead, NPR reported. LAPD maintains that Ford was pulled aside for an "investigative stop" when he went for an officer's gun when he was shot.

Over the weekend, hundreds gathered in Los Angeles to protest Ford's killing and demand justice for him. The protests, however, have been markedly different. For one, police officers have held off on a heavily militarized response to protesters, unlike in Ferguson.

LAPD Assistant Chief Earl Paysinger had his own theory, though. "The difference between this instance and what we see back East I think has to do with the confidence that the public has in the police department to conduct an immediate, a thorough, a thoughtful investigation," Paysinger told NPR this weekend.

Top Obama advisers advise Black "Leaders": 'Tell the other Blacks to Keep Quiet & Peaceful and if you Mess with our Race Soldier Cops We'll Crush You!'

Still "Happy" about the White Over Black System? From [HERE] The White House is working behind the scenes to assure leading civil rights groups that the administration is determined to see justice achieved in the Michael Brown shooting as President Obama seeks to preserve his support in the black community with his handling of the racially charged case.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., who will travel to Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday, and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett personally briefed 1,000 African American leaders, community organizers and civil rights groups during private conference calls this week, White House aides said.

The strategy was aimed at enlisting the groups to “help keep the situation calm and focused,” said a senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity to describe the conversations.

Holder is expected to meet with elected officials, law enforcement officers and community leaders during his visit to Ferguson, which is part of the Justice Department’s independent review of Brown’s death Aug. 9. In an open letter published on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Web site Tuesday, Holder said the his goal was to “ensure that this tragedy can give rise to new understanding — and robust action — aimed at bridging persistent gaps between law enforcement officials and the communities we serve.”

The efforts of Holder and Jarrett, Obama’s two highest-ranking African American advisers, have shielded the president from criticism from other prominent black leaders. Professors Michael Eric Dyson and Charles Ogletree, longtime Obama supporters, said on MSNBC on Tuesday that Obama had not spoken forcefully enough to the personal pain of African Americans in Ferguson.

“People have been dying left and right; it’s time for this president, who I love dearly, to speak up and say what’s in his mind and his heart — that we can’t allow any more black boys, 18 years old and younger, to be shot and killed by police,” said Ogletree, who has known Obama since his days at Harvard Law School. White Georgia Officials Refuse to Pay Medical Bills of Non-white toddler hurt in No-Knock SWAT Raid - White Cops Dropped 'Grenade' in Crib

From [HERE] Psychopathic White Officials in Habersham County, Georgia, have said they will not pay the medical bills of a Laotion toddler seriously injured when a flash grenade exploded in his face during a SWAT raid in May, local media has reported.

The child, Bounkham Phonesavanh, then 19 months old, was struck with the weapon when the county’s SWAT police conducted a so-called "no-knock" raid on a home in the early hours of May 28, throwing a flash grenade into the baby’s crib. The devices – also known as flash bangs and stun grenades – are often deployed in raids and protests to temporarily disorient suspects.

Police said the raid was in response to claims by an informant that drugs were purchased at the property, in which Phonesavanh’s family was staying temporarily at the time. No drugs were found at the home, a local CBS affiliate reported.

Phonesavanh was put into a medically induced coma and treated in the Grady Memorial Hospital burn unit because of the injuries. He was hospitalized for five weeks for injuries to his face and third-degree burns to his chest, according to CBS.

Officials from Habersham County initially said they would help to pay the medical bills, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, but on Monday said it would be illegal for them to do so, local news station WSBTV reported.

"The question before the board was whether it is legally permitted to pay these expenses. After consideration of this question following advice of counsel, the board of commissioners has concluded that it would be in violation of the law for it to do so," a statement by Habersham County’s attorney said, according to WSBTV.

According to the Department of Justice, Violent Crime has being Going Down Since 1980. Why has the Militarization of Police Increased? [White Supremacy]

From [HERE] Since 1990, according to Department of Justice statistics, the United States has become a vastly safer place, at least in terms of violent crime. (Drug crime follows somewhat different trends, though drug use has been dropping over the same time period.) The number of murders dropped to 14,827 in 2012 from 23,438 in 1990. The number of rapes has plummeted to 84,376 from 102,555. The number of robberies, motor-vehicle thefts, assaults — all have seen similarly large declines. And the number of incidents has dropped even though the country has grown.

And there’s no evidence that giving police officers the weapons of war has had anything to do with that decline in crime, either, with researchers pegging it to a combination of factors, among them the removal of lead from paint and gasoline, an increase in abortion rates, and improved policing methods.

So, instead, we get a very militarized police -- and tons of cases where it is being used in cases that absolutely don't warrant it. At all.

And here's the really disturbing thing. It may get a lot worse. As Vanity Fair notes, on June 19th, Rep. Alan Grayson had offered up an amendment on the Defense Appropriations bill, which would have limited the militarization of police. And it failed by a wide margin. Included in those voting against it? The guy who represents Ferguson.

The situation quickly spiraled out-of-control when police fired tear gas into the crowd well before the midnight curfew. It’s unclear what prompted the police action.

County police tweeted that protesters were throwing "Molotov cocktails" at police, but protesters, including Renita Lamkin, a pastor who has been acting as a peacekeeper, said no one threw Molotov cocktails. "That is not true," she said. Meanwhile, a police announcer told the crowd, "This is no longer a peaceful protest. You must leave the area."

Autopsy Shows Michael Brown Was Struck at Least 6 Times: Twice in the Head

[this provocative news was released late Sunday by NY Times just hours before the curfew.] Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager who was killed by a police officer, sparking protests around the nation, was shot at least six times, including twice in the head, a preliminary private autopsy performed on Sunday found.

One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown’s skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury, according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family’s request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of bullets to hit him, he said.

Mr. Brown, 18, was also shot four times in the right arm, he said, adding that all the bullets were fired into his front.

The bullets did not appear to have been shot from very close range because no gunpowder was present on his body. However, that determination could change if it turns out that there is gunshot residue on Mr. Brown’s clothing, to which Dr. Baden did not have access.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said Sunday that the Justice Department would conduct its own autopsy, in addition to the one performed by local officials and this private one because, a department spokesman said, of “the extraordinary circumstances involved in this case and at the request of the Brown family.”
