NC School pulls slavery book

School pulls slavery book A Christian school in Cary has pulled it from its curriculum a pro-slavery booklet. They said it's because of citation and attribution flaws and not the exposure that fell to Cary Christian School after the book was described in a news story Thursday. School leaders deny they're condoning slavery by having students read the booklet that offers a biblical justification for slavery and said slaves weren't treated as badly as people think. Ninth-grade students at Cary Christian School read "Southern Slavery, As It Was," for two days when they study the Civil War. Principal Larry Stephenson said the school chose the book because it is sympathetic to the South and also explores what the Bible said about slavery. [more]
