Jury Recommends Death for Black Man who Killed White Officer

From [HERE] RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Prosecutors say a Southern California jury has recommended the death penalty for a man convicted of killing a Riverside police officer who pulled him over on a traffic stop.

Riverside County district attorney's spokesman John Hall says jurors made the recommendation Tuesday for 46-year-old Earl Ellis Green.

Green was convicted last month of first-degree murder for luring Officer Ryan Bonaminio down a darkened park path, beating him with a metal bar and shooting him with Bonaminio's service weapon in 2010.

Bonaminio was responding to a report of a stolen vehicle when he stopped Green.
