No indictments against Monroe Police Officers in Shooting of Black Man

A Ouachita Parish grand jury has decided NOT to indict any of the Monroe police officers present at the shooting death of a man in August.
More than a dozen witnesses testified before the grand jury investigating the death of William Mark Henderson. He was shot multiple times by as many as five officers during an August 22nd confrontation with officers in an alley. The grand jury returned NO indictments in the shooting today Police Chief Ron Schleuter has said Henderson refused police commands to put down a knife and a chain. The chief said officers tried to subdue Henderson with a pepper-ball gun and a shotgun loaded with beanbags before Henderson lunged at an officer with the knife and chain.
Last month, Monica Bruce, the ex-wife and mother of five of Henderson's children, filed a civil suit, claiming police "willfully and maliciously shot and killed" Henderson.
